What is the Praise Power Network All About?

Thomas Wesley Weeks Sr. Ministries is an international global soul saving organization made up of individuals, churches and members of the body of Christ from all walks of life. This network is part of an initiative to make the Gospel available to believers and nonbelievers all over the world. We have participated an enjoyed the opportunity of National Television, but we are even more swayed by the lack of Gospel programming in Africa, the Middle East, the Caribbean and the Far East. Through our missionary journeys, we have been told countless times that America has forgotten it's Christian brothers and sisters around the world. The Praise Power Network (PPN) is this ministry's way of providing the Word of God to anyone in the World who wants to hear it!

What Do I need To get Started?

You. of course. need an Internet connection, a web browser, and a FREE application called Quicktime 6.0 from Apple Computer Inc. You can download it from Apple's web site. This installer application is an active installer which means you will 1) first download an application that requires you to be connected to the internet 2) once you open that application, it will download the necessary pieces of data required for your type of computer. Follow the simple on screen instructions (and we recommend you do the FULL install option) and allow the application to do all the work!

I've got Quicktime 6.0, now what?

There are 2 ways to access the live PPN broadcast. One is through your web browser itself and the other is using Quicktime's Movie Player application. We'll examine both options, and remember, you must already be connected to the internet for this to work!

To use a web browser, you must have the Quicktime Plug-in available in your Plug-In folder of the browser you use most. For America On Line (AOL) users, this is done automatically when you download quicktime. For those who do not use AOL, whichever browser you've used to download the initial active installer application, will be the one where the plug-in is installed. If you can do the following test, you'll know if the plug in is installed: 1) Got to The Praise Power Network. 2) Click on available broadcast 3) Your browser should then go to a new page with a big blue "Q" in the middle. A few seconds later you will see the cybercast!

If you want more control over your PPN Cybercast, use Quicktime's Movie Player application. A shortcut (or alias) was put on your desktop after the original installation of Quicktime. Open the application. Go to the File Menu and click on "Open URL". Type the words exactly as you see it here (not including quotations) "rtsp://38.201.96.164/ppnvideo". You will see your Movie Player go through "Connecting", Negotiating", "Buffering", and "Live Broadcast". You are now connected to the PPN Cybercast!

My video is blurry but my audio is o.k!

This is normal for Internet cybercasting. Because the data for video is so large, it does not make it through the telephone lines as fast as you computer can process it. Meaning that your telephone line is much, much slower than what your computer can process. Notice that your audio signal is fine. There is much less data associated with audio feeds (just like in a regular phone conversation) and thus, you notice less congestion or problems with the audio. To make matters even more difficult, a moving camera and a moving subject increases the amount of video data that needs to be sent across the telephone lines. Notice when the subjects are still, how clearer the image gets. And when they move, how the pixels (points or blocks of color that make up your viewing picture) become blurred. As the Internet ability to transfer data increases, so will the ability to have higher qualities of cybercasts.

In the coming weeks/days we will improve our cybercasting quality by: 1) decreasing the minimum connection to the Cybercast network to be a 56k modem . Currently you must have broadband speed to enjoy the network. 2) Providing, made for internet programming including a new formatted "Kingdom Keys', 3) Continuously upgrade our software and equipment to provide the best online experience!

I've got video but no audio!

This is a symptom that your modem speed is slower than streaming broadcast coming into your computer. Currently, PPN's minimum connection speed is 56k. If you are having this symptom (and we are assuming that your volume and speakers are working properly) that your speed out to the Internet is less than broad band (<90k/sec). This can be fixed by one or two methods. 1) check your Quicktime Settings control panel. Find the "Connection" tab and choose it. Make sure that the connection speed in your control panel matches the actual speed of your broadband service. 2) Upgrade your modem from a 56k modem to broadband internet.

Help, I'm Still Having Problems!

Just tell us what your particular issue is, and we'll have some one from our tech support staff return your e-mail. Please identify (if you know these items) your computer type and processor speed, QuickTime Version, RAM memory, other applications running at the time, the time you attempted to access PPN, and which method (web browser or Movie Player).
